CityWest Homes, a housing provider which manages and delivers high quality homes to 21,700 properties in Westminster, has been shortlisted for not one, but two awards by the National Federation of ALMOs (NFA).
Marie Froggatt, an inspiring member of the Soho and Covent Garden estate community, has been nominated for ‘Most outstanding resident of the year.’ In 2011, Marie bravely stood up for her neighbours when the community was suffering from extreme anti-social behaviour by an abusive tenant. She worked closely with the Police and CityWest Homes to give evidence in court in person, resulting in the successful removal of the tenant. Marie was also recently shortlisted for a UK Housing Heroes Award for her brave stand.
Marie Froggatt said: “My reason for taking the initiative and getting involved was because residents felt threatened in their own homes. It was scary stepping forward, but it had to be done. I spoke to all the residents in the building and we worked together to solve the problem.”
Community champion, Mike Wilson, neighbourhoods project co-ordinator, CityWest Homes, has also been shortlisted for an NFA Award in the ‘Resident involvement officer of the year’ category. Since joining CityWest Homes in 2002, Mike has pioneered dynamic projects in employment, financial advice and health to benefit residents across Westminster.
Clare Maslin, head of corporate communications, CityWest Homes, said: “We are tremendously proud of both Marie and Mike’s achievements.
They are both an inspiration to the CityWest Homes community and their contributions make Westminster a better place to be.”
The awards ceremony will take place at the Midland Hotel, Manchester as part of the NFA Annual Conference on 11 July 2012.
