The festive season is in full swing across CityWest Homes managed estates. Bringing sparkle to the south, Churchill Gardens estate, Pimlico held a dazzling display for a crowd of over 200 onlookers. Residents gathered on 27 November to watch the Lord Mayor of Westminster, Councillor Audrey Lewis, turn on the lights for the community’s 13 foot Christmas tree.
The event was organised by the local Churchill Gardens Ward Councillors (Councillors Murad Gassanly, Jason Williams and Shamim Talukder) through the Churchill Ward budget and supported by the local CityWest Homes estate office.
The air was also filled with notes of perfect harmony, as St Gabriel’s Church Choir sang Christmas carols to the crowd. The event was supported by CityWest Homes and was a fantastic evening of friendship, community and fun.
Councillor Murad Gassanly said: “It was a pleasure to see so many families celebrating together and thank you to everyone who helped make this event such a success. We want this to be the start of a new Churchill Gardens Christmas tradition."
Councillor Jason Williams added: "Churchill Gardens is a great community, with many families who have lived on the estate for generations. The strong community spirit was shown by the great turnout and atmosphere at the event. We wish residents a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year."
Leon Williams, area manager (south), was in the crowd enjoying the festive atmosphere. He said: “It was incredible to see so many people attend this wonderful event. The crowd gathered around the tree and many more were looking on from the balconies of the surrounding buildings in the estate. This has really brought neighbours together and the tree itself is absolutely breath taking.”
