Carlton Vale Resident Management Organisation

Carlton Vale Resident Management Organisation was set up in 1997, as our residents wanted the opportunity to manage their homes themselves.

Westminster City Council is still the landlord, and rent or service charges are paid to them.

We manage seven blocks in Carlton Vale - Helmsdale, Invergarry, Keith, Melrose, Peebles, Renfrew and Strome Houses - a total of 138 properties.

Our management committee is made up of local residents, who are elected by our members. We would like all adult residents to become members, as this allows you to vote at meetings on issues that affect where you live and how your home is managed. Membership costs just £1.

Our aim is to -

  • provide an effective and efficient service
  • promote community spirit among our residents.

Responsibilities

We have entered into a management agreement with the Council to take over some key housing services. These include:

  • general repairs and maintenance
  • cleaning
  • grounds maintenance
  • managing garages, sheds and parking spaces
  • dealing with empty properties and tenancy issues
  • cyclical maintenance, for example, communal decorations.

The Council is still responsible for some works, for example, work to the structure of the building, or where something needs to be replaced rather than repaired.

We have our own contractors for cleaning, grounds maintenance and repairs. We aim to maintain a high standard of upkeep throughout the common areas.
