Domestic violence

Domestic violence is a serious crime. Physical, sexual, financial, emotional and psychological abuse as well as controlling or coercive behaviour are all types of domestic violence. As are female genital mutilation (FGM), forced marriage and ‘honour’ based violence.

If you are suffering from domestic violence remember –

  • You are not to blame
  • You are not alone
  • There are agencies that can give you help and support

Where to get help

  • CityWest Homes
  • Police
  • Other agencies (listed at the bottom of this page).

We work closely with other agencies to support victims and will also take action against perpetrators using our enforcement powers where possible.

Each estate team has a member of staff trained as a domestic violence champion and you can contact them at the local estate office for information and advice. An interpreter can be arranged if needed. Confidentiality will be maintained at all times, unless there are over-riding safety issues for the victim and their families.

If you are unable to remain in your home you can contact the Housing Options Service at 101 Orchardson Street, NW8. Their phone number is 020 7641 1000 if you need help or advice with finding somewhere to stay temporarily.

The police

Please contact your local police if you would like to speak to a police officer.

If you are in immediate danger, call 999.
